Build 37. Trackday Rollbar
Now the rear bulk head is done, I can move onto securing the rollbar.
The first job was to remove the damper bolts and put them aside so we had access to the boss on the chassis where the main part of the roll bar slots in. As per the engine mounting, I decided to get each bolt loosely in place and then simply tighten them up bit by bit until it all comes together. Some blogs seemed to have some alignment issues here but for me at first glance it looked like all the bolts would go in easy enough.
Every fitting that is needed was in Pack J so I didn't need to go through all the bags I had laying around to find all the parts which was a relief. Note how the fixing of the rollbar was interleaved with the rear bulkhead part and the seat belts part previous to this post, I gave it a dry run before attempting the belts and the carpet.
As above, other blogs had mentioned that the roll bar will likely not line up and generally need a bit of force/tapping to get it to fit, I guess CC must have upped their game here as mine fits with no problems, I simply inserted the lower bolts first (that goes above the damper bolt), then the bolts above that facing down (with washer AND spring washer, the manual doesn't picture the spring washer). Then the bolts at the rear. I then torqued them all up and replaced the damper bolt back in its place for later.
This is how we are looking so far, notice that I have decided to put the bonnet on as most of the engine work is done, and this free's up space in the garage. There is some thin self adhesive strip in one of the bags with all the trim, this is designed to go on the bonnet base to stop it scratching or rubbing against the chassis. I actually didn't have enough so I ordered a bit more. There is a wider strip for use on the nose cone later.
